WMUR: New Hampshire’s congressional leaders push for bipartisan action as shutdown continues

As the government shutdown continues, New Hampshire congressional leaders urge bipartisan cooperation to find a solution.

Democrats say they need Republicans to work with them on extending healthcare subsidies, specifically Affordable Care Act premium tax credits, which are set to expire at the end of the year. These tax credits can significantly lower costs or eliminate them entirely for those enrolled in ACA coverage.

“I work for people who are feeling the pain right now of high health care costs, and of the uncertainty that has been pervasive from day one of this administration. But that has only been ramped up in this posture,” said Rep. Maggie Goodlander, D-New Hampshire.
