Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander, a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the bipartisan For Country Caucus, released the following statement in response to press reports that President Trump and his administration have frozen all United States military aid to Ukraine:
“Ukraine is in the fight for its life to defend its freedom and its democracy. A weakened Ukraine makes America less safe and the world even more dangerous. The United States should be doing what it has done for my entire lifetime: stand up to Russian aggression and forcefully work to end their unjust war of aggression against a free and sovereign nation. Instead, President Trump is standing with Russia. It’s absolutely shameful.
“The Trump Administration’s decision to cut off United States military aid – while Russian aggression and deadly bombardments on the people of Ukraine continue every single day – is lawless, it will undermine our national security, and it goes against the very values of our nation. I believe deeply in the cause of freedom in Ukraine and will always stand up to Vladimir Putin’s aggression.”
Congresswoman Goodlander has dedicated her life to serving New Hampshire and our country. Before taking the oath to represent the Second District in the People’s House, she served as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve for over a decade. Goodlander began her career as an advisor to Senators John McCain and Joe Lieberman, both of whom served on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
