Washington, D.C. – Representative Maggie Goodlander, a Member of the Bipartisan Fentanyl Prevention Caucus, voted in favor of the Halt Lethal Trafficking (HALT) Fentanyl Act, bipartisan legislation to permanently classify fentanyl-related substances as Schedule I under the Controlled Substances Act.
“Illicit fentanyl is the leading driver of overdose deaths in New Hampshire, taking the lives of hundreds of loved ones every year. We can and must do more to combat this epidemic and help save lives,” said Representative Goodlander. “This legislation will help stop the flow of these dangerous drugs into our communities and hold illicit distributors accountable. I will continue working to ensure our law enforcement partners have the tools they need to keep our communities safe.”
New Hampshire was one of the hardest-hit states by the opioid epidemic, a crisis perpetuated by the prevalence of illicit fentanyl, which accounted for over 80% of drug overdose deaths in New Hampshire in 2023. Representative Goodlander is working with local and congressional partners to address this crisis and help save lives.
