Washington, D.C. — Today, Representative Maggie Goodlander participated in the certification of the 2024 presidential election results, completing the final step of the electoral college process, and released the following statement:
“I had the distinct honor of representing New Hampshire in the joint session of Congress to certify the results of the 2024 presidential election. Today’s peaceful proceedings stand in stark contrast to the violent insurrection on our United States Capitol four years ago today. I will never forget what happened on January 6, 2021. I am forever grateful to the brave men and women of the U.S. Capitol Police and our law enforcement partners who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe. I will never stop working to protect and defend our Constitution.
“The American people made their voices heard on November 5, 2024, in a free and fair election. Today, Congress fulfilled its constitutional responsibility to ensure that the right to vote – the right from which all our other rights flow – is protected and the peaceful transfer of power takes place on January 20th.”
Representative Goodlander has dedicated her life to serving New Hampshire and our country. Before taking the oath of office to represent the Second District in the People’s House, she served as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve, a law clerk on the U.S. Supreme Court for Justice Stephen Breyer, Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the U.S. Department of Justice, and as a professor of constitutional law at UNH Law School and Dartmouth.
