Concord, N.H. – Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander, a founding member of the Monopoly Busters Caucus, is helping lead the Ban Corporate PACs Act, bicameral legislation to reduce the influence of corporate money in politics and government by prohibiting for-profit corporations from funding political campaigns and influencing elections.
Corporate PACs are often used to funnel money into political campaigns to benefit corporate interests. These PACs are established and funded by corporations, which can then solicit donations from employees and stockholders and contribute thousands of dollars to candidates at higher limits than individuals. The Ban Corporate PACs Act would put an end to this system and help restore the voice of hardworking people over big corporations in government.
“For our democracy to work, the American people must have the biggest say in who and what is driving our government, not big corporations. But today I’m one of the few Members of Congress who has never taken a penny from a corporate PAC. That shouldn’t be the case,” said Congresswoman Goodlander. “The people of New Hampshire know that our campaign finance system has been broken for a long time. The Ban Corporate PACs Act is a commonsense place to start, and that’s why I’m proud to help lead it.”
The Ban Corporate PACs Act would:
- Eliminate the power of for-profit corporations to establish and manage a corporate PAC.
- Eliminate the power of for-profit corporations or PACs to solicit contributions from corporate stockholders.
- Require that existing corporate PACs that will no longer be allowed under this Act be terminated and funds be fully disbursed within 1 year after enactment of the Act.

Congresswoman Goodlander has dedicated her life to fighting for the people of New Hampshire. Before taking the oath of office, she served as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the United States Department of Justice, where she took on the corporate monopolies hurting NH’s small businesses and held them accountable for jacking up prices and making life harder for Granite Staters.
