WCAX: Rep. Goodlander says Hegseth security lapses ‘disqualifying’

BERLIN, Vt. (WCAX) – New Hampshire Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander is demanding that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth step down.

It comes as controversy continues to swirl around Hegseth’s use of unsecured communication devices and the messaging app Signal to send sensitive military information. Goodlander says Hegseth lacks the experience for the job, and his actions prove he is unfit.

“I know this from my time serving as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve — you don’t conduct war planning on a group chat. This is an utterly disqualifying offense. It should, in the ordinary course, be investigated and prosecuted by the Department of Justice,” she said.

The Democrat says if Hegseth doesn’t resign, she says President Trump should fire him.
