MANCHESTER, N.H. —
Democratic lawmakers, including U.S. Rep. Maggie Goodlander, are speaking out about recent cuts to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The pushback follows a ProPublica report detailing concerns from VA doctors about sweeping cuts made under the Trump administration.
Internal documents detail disruptions to various studies and clinical trials.
The Trump administration’s plans to downsize the federal government also included a goal from the VA to cut 15% of its staff.
“What I hear from veterans is a concern that the basic resources, and the benefits that they’ve earned are not going to be available to them,” Goodlander said. “And that’s what we’re fighting to prevent with everything we’ve got.”
In a statement released Thursday, the Department of Veterans Affairs said all of the issues cited by ProPublica have been resolved or addressed.
