Concord, N.H. – Today Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander announced that Andrea Packard from Littleton – a student at New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) Concord’s Community College – will join her as her guest for tomorrow’s Presidential Joint Address to Congress to highlight the importance of federal funding on New Hampshire’s students, workforce, and communities. Congresswoman Goodlander met Andrea last month at NHTI during a series of visits to community colleges and public schools across the district, where she saw firsthand the impact of federal funding on New Hampshire’s students, workforce, and communities.
New Hampshire’s way of life is made possible by federal funding. In FY 2022, New Hampshire received nearly $4.1 billion in federal funding, including money transferred to New Hampshire’s state government as well as funds sent directly to local entities within the state, such as cities and school districts. In FY 2025, an estimated 31.8% of New Hampshire’s revenue came from federal transfers. Any freeze in federal funding to our state, local organizations, or communities would be devastating.
“Federal funding is absolutely critical to our way of life here in New Hampshire – from our community colleges and community health centers to our family farms and family-owned small businesses. Threats to federal programs have real, devastating consequences for our communities,” said Congresswoman Goodlander. “Andrea’s experience highlights one of our government’s highest missions: educating the next generation of Granite Staters. In Congress, I am fighting to protect and expand the federal programs and funding streams that matter most to New Hampshire.”
“NHTI was fortunate enough to receive federal funding that purchased all new patient and operator dental chairs for our clinic. This has allowed for all students and patients to have the same opportunities and abilities to receive care and learn in an equal opportunity environment,” said Andrea Packard. “As technology progresses, it is critical that the colleges and universities that are training and educating the future dental and health care providers are up to date so that students are ready to jump in and help our patients and provide the best care possible.”
Since taking the oath of office to represent New Hampshire in Congress, Congresswoman Goodlander has met with hundreds of Granite Staters – including mayors, small businesses, police chiefs, fire chiefs, teachers, students, health care workers, first responders, farmers, child care providers and many others – to hear directly about the impact that freezes or cuts to federal programs have had or could have on their lives, their work, and our communities. She voted to block House Republicans’ budget resolution, which would pave the way to giving trillions in tax handouts to billionaires and big corporations paid for by the largest cuts to Medicaid in American history, as well as cuts to critical programs Granite Staters rely on, like support for our education system, SNAP food benefits and the Affordable Care Act.
