Nashua, N.H. – Today, Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander released the following statement on the situation in Gaza:
“The United States of America is the leader of the free world because we stand up for our values. We are ironclad in our commitment to protecting the American people and our allies against terrorism. We are equally ironclad and fierce in our defense of democracy and human rights. That means we deliver for innocent civilians who are in need.”
“No civilian should ever go without food, clean water, and access to medical care. But today, innocent people in Gaza are facing a catastrophic famine. The unbearable and heartbreaking suffering of civilians in Gaza must end now. This cannot wait.”
“We need an immediate surge of humanitarian assistance delivered to civilians in Gaza. We need a return of the hostages who have been kept in nightmarish captivity under horrific conditions in Gaza for 685 days. We need Prime Minister Netanyahu and his extremist allies in Israel’s government to heed the voices of millions of Israelis and of Israeli military and security experts who are saying clearly and urgently: this war must end.”
“We need to move toward a long-term outcome that ensures the safety, dignity, freedom, and prosperity of the Palestinian people and protects Israel’s security and democracy. Ultimately, a negotiated two-state solution is the path to ensure the dignity, prosperity, and freedom of the Palestinian people and a strong, secure, Jewish, democratic state of Israel.”
Congresswoman Goodlander has been a consistent voice for an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East and the urgent delivery of critical aid to Gaza. She is cosponsoring H.Resolution 473, which calls for the urgent delivery and disbursement of humanitarian aid to address the needs of civilians in Gaza. A member of the House Armed Services Committee, she has pressed military leaders on the urgent imperative of delivering humanitarian relief to civilians in Gaza, including the Commander of U.S. Central Command who she pressed about the urgent need to identify and leverage the tools and resources of U.S. Central Command to deliver humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.
