Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander (NH-02) joined a bipartisan coalition of her colleagues in cosponsoring the No Funds for NATO Invasion Act, legislation to prohibit the use of federal funds for an invasion of any NATO member state or territory protected under Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty.
“Let’s be clear: President Trump’s reckless threats against America’s most important allies — our NATO allies — are making our country less safe,” said Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander (NH-02). “And they are an absolute gift to thugs like Vladimir Putin. That’s why I’m leading this bipartisan bill to prevent American taxpayer dollars from being used to attack our NATO allies. Let’s get this done and stop this madness.”
The No Funds for NATO Invasion Act would:
- Prohibit any federal funds from being used to invade a NATO member state or any territory protected by Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty; and
- Prohibit any officer or employee of the United States from taking any action to execute an invasion of a NATO member state or any Article 5-protected territory.
Goodlander is also cosponsoring an amendment to the Department of Defense Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2026 to prohibit the invasion of any NATO member state or territory protected under Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty.
Goodlander has dedicated her life to serving our country. She began her career working as a senior advisor to Senator John McCain in the United States Senate and went on to serve as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve for more than a decade. She serves as a member of the Armed Services Committee, a co-chair of the Friends of Finland Caucus, and a member of the Baltic, United Kingdom, Hellenic, and American-Canadian Economy and Security Caucuses. On December 10, 2025, the House overwhelmingly voted to include a provision in the Goodlander-backed National Defense Authorization Act requiring that the unedited video of the September 2 strike on a boat in the Caribbean be made available to Congress. Already this Congress, she has led two War Powers Resolutions, which the House voted on in December, and earlier this month, she championed another bipartisan war powers resolution to reclaim congressional authority over actions in Venezuela, which the House will vote on later this week.
