Goodlander Joins House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittees on Health and Technology Modernization

Washington, D.C. — The House Committee on Veterans Affairs formally welcomed Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander (NH-02) to two subcommittees today, unanimously adopting a resolution to appoint Goodlander to the Subcommittee on Health and Subcommittee on Technology Modernization. Goodlander served as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve for more than a decade and also serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Small Business Committee.

“We make a sacred promise to every American who serves: when they come home, the care and benefits they earned will be there for them. That promise has to work in practice — in every clinic, every claim, and every VA system,” said Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander. “On the Health and Technology Modernization Subcommittees, I will fight to expand veterans’ care in New Hampshire, improve our VA medical center, and make sure the technology veterans and VA workers rely on delivers. I am honored to take on this responsibility, and I won’t quit until every Granite State veteran can get the care they need, when and where they need it.”

Goodlander received a bipartisan welcome from committee leadership and colleagues on the committee during today’s hearing.

“Rep. Maggie Goodlander of New Hampshire will be an outstanding addition to our committee. As a former intelligence officer who served 11 years in the Navy Reserve, Rep. Goodlander brings firsthand experience and a deep understanding of the challenges servicemembers and veterans face,” said Ranking Member Rep. Mark Takano (D-CA-41).

“I’ve enjoyed working with you these past few years, and you’ve done a great job on the House Armed Services Committee. And I tell you, these two committees partner very well with themselves, and being a veteran, you completely understand that. I look forward to working with you on Tech Mod and on main committee. Congratulations,” said Rep. Morgan Luttrell (R-TX-08).

The Health Subcommittee oversees the Veterans Health Administration, including veterans’ medical services, facilities, research, and construction. The Technology Modernization Subcommittee oversees the Department of Veterans Affairs’ technology programs, cybersecurity, data management, and electronic health record system.
