Goodlander Statement on U.S. Supreme Court Decision Upholding Birthright Citizenship

WASHINGTON — Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander (NH-02) issued the following statement today after the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision upholding birthright citizenship. Goodlander previously filed an amicus brief in this case, Trump v. Barbaraand in State of Washington v. Trump, a similar case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

“Today, the Supreme Court affirmed what our Constitution has made plain for more than 150 years: if you are born in the United States and subject to its jurisdiction, you are an American citizen,” said Congresswoman Goodlander. “We fought President Trump’s Executive Order from the moment it was issued. Today is a good day for our Constitution, for families across this country, and for the cornerstone principle that in America, birthright citizenship cannot be stripped away by presidential decree.”
