Gorham, N.H. — Today, Representative Maggie Goodlander met with Gorham Community Learning Center (GCLC) staff, advocates, and local leaders to hear a progress update on a new, expanded child care facility and discuss the importance of increasing child care capacity to support North Country families. Earlier this month, Goodlander helped announce $1,000,000 for Gorham Community Learning Center through the NBRC Catalyst Program Awards to assist in the renovation of a bank building into a child care center.
“Thank you to the incredible team at Gorham Community Learning Center who met with me today to discuss this impressive project and the continued need to expand access to affordable, high-quality child care in the North Country and across New Hampshire,” said Representative Goodlander. “Gorham Community Learning Center is a model for our state and it was really exciting to see the progress on this project firsthand. I will continue fighting for the federal resources New Hampshire needs to help deliver for our communities.”
“Access to high-quality child care is essential for thriving communities and often dictates where families choose to live and build their lives. Recognizing this, we are committed to driving meaningful solutions,” said Airole Warden, Director of Coos County Childcare Directors Network. “At The Network, we are proud to see the tangible impact of our collaborations, like the Gorham Community Learning Center doubling its child care capacity through recent expansion efforts with support from AHEAD. While our progress is hopeful, our work is far from done. Expanding access to high-quality childcare must remain a priority to meet growing demand and ensure every family has the support they need. Together, we can create a future where child care is no longer a barrier, but a bridge to opportunity.”
A member of the House Small Business Committee, Representative Goodlander is an advocate for expanding access to high-quality child care and ensuring it is affordable for all families.
